Philosophy

There are three core philosophies which drive everything we do at Core Results. It gives you a glimpse at what you can expect your from your trainer:

Philosophy 1: Small Steps = Big Results

Philosophy 2: The Two Way Street

Philosophy 3: Functional Training

Philosophy 1: Small Steps = Big Results

Here at Core Results we believe fitness starts with a healthy lifestyle. Therefore the goal of your trainer is to help you make exercise and healthy eating a part of your everyday routine. We believe the best way to do this is through a series of small steps. This is for two reasons.

First, searching for fitness for someone who has been totally inactive for years can be a daunting task. The key is to break your long term goal down into small more manageable steps. Your trainer will guide you in this process. Once you have achieved your first small goal, you will see a snowball effect towards fitness.

The second reason is people are much more likely to stick to a fitness program if it fits into their life as opposed to disrupting it. The most common excuse for not exercising is, "I don't have time". That is why your trainer will give you small changes that you can make in your life that will make a real difference in your fitness level.

Consequently, the previously mentioned reasons for small steps go hand in hand. Often times your "small goals" will be to complete one of the "small steps". A goal doesn't have to be to lose X number of pounds in X amount of time. A goal can be to complete an action. An example could be that your goal for the week will be to walk twice for thirty minutes. This is an achievable goal as well as a small step towards fitness.

Philosophy 2: The Two Way Street

Core strength is all the rage these days. You can turn on any late night infomercial and realize this. But what is core strength? For that matter, what's a core?

Well, the "core" that the TV is talking about is basically referring to your midsection and the muscles that make it up (abs, obliques, low back, etc.). It is really the foundation for all movements; everything from swinging a tennis racquet to sitting in a chair. Core training is any exercise that makes these muscles stronger.

Here at Core Results we believe wholeheartedly in core training as an integral part of any fitness program. This is because you really can only be as strong as your core, or foundation, allows you to be. However, it does not end there. We also believe that your core can only be as useful as the moving parts around it.

For instance, let's say you are an avid golfer with arthritic knees. A strong core is vital in the golf swing; however, if you do not have full range of motion in your knee joint you still will have a limitation in your swing. Worse yet, you may not even be able to stand long enough to play a full round of golf. In either case, the strong core that you have worked so hard for, in essence does you no good on the golf course because you have other limitations.

So while a strong core is vital, it is not the end all be all. Your peripheral muscles and joints are just as important to your overall health.

Philosophy 3: Functional Training

Technically you can train your core through individual exercises for each muscle of the core. However, Core Results believes the best way to train the core is to mimic the movements we use in everyday life. This is in fact the very definition of "Functional Training" and why a good portion of your time with your trainer will be spent focusing on exercises that use the same muscle groups, in the same way, that you use during the rest of your day.

While working out with Raymond I can say I felt healthier, had more energy, was thinner and more toned than ever. I truly felt good about the way I looked. I have recommended Raymond to other friends of mine who also had similar positive experiences.
