Why Choose Core Results Personal Training?

“There are countless gyms and personal training services that start big, burn bright, and then fizzle. A company comes into town—owned by investors instead of fitness experts—hires the first 20 trainers that apply, and hopes for the best. It doesn’t take long for people to catch on that the level of care and service just doesn’t match the hype.

As the owner of Core Results Personal Training, my approach is different. I take my time when bringing on new trainers today, to make sure that trust is maintained. The hiring process can be a long one, but it is critical to make sure each trainer has made a conscious decision to make fitness a career, not just a hobby.  I want to know that personal training is something they are passionate about, and that the level of professionalism they display reflects that passion. I’ve been very successful at finding trainers that fit this description. When a long-time client of my own refers a mother, brother, or friend to Core Results, I don’t hesitate for a moment before entrusting them to one of my trainers.

Your results are what motivates me and my team of personal trainers. If your goal in personal training is to lose weight, your program will be designed to achieve that result. If your goal is to gain muscle and performance, your program will be designed for those specific aims. Core Results Personal Training is not a one-size-fits-all program. We’ve built our company by listening to your needs and goals, and getting you results!”

Why Choose Personal Training?

So, it’s time to get serious about your fitness!  Where do you start? There are three popular choices right now for getting into shape: gym membership, group fitness class, and personal training.

Matching Up With a Personal Trainer

During your initial conversation with Aaron you will talk about your goals, past exercise experience, limitations, and scheduling needs. Based on these factors he will match you up with a personal trainer that fits your needs.

What to Expect in Your First Session

Your first personal training session is completely free and lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour. This session is all about getting to know you—your goals, your fitness background, and how we can create the perfect training program tailored just for you.

During your consultation, you and your trainer will discuss:

  • The best session length for you (30 or 60 minutes)
  • How many sessions per week fit your schedule and goals
  • Ideal training times that work for your lifestyle
  • Whether you’re training for a specific goal or looking for general fitness improvement
  • Your fitness history and any past injuries
  • How personal training can seamlessly integrate into your daily routine

After your consultation, you’ll step into the studio for an assessment or “screening” workout. The information gathered during this session will be the blueprint for planning a program specific to you and your goals!

How to Choose a Personal Trainer

Just about anyone can call themselves a “personal trainer,” there is so little regulation in the training industry. So how can you make sure you’re working with a personal trainer you can trust with your health and well-being? The key is to ask questions. A good trainer will expect questions, and be willing to provide documentation if you ask for it.

When you’re trying to find a personal trainer, think and ask about his or her: Education, Certification, Insurance, Experience, and Personality

What Fitness-Related Education Does Your Trainer Have?

Does the personal trainer you are considering have any form of higher learning in a related area? Degrees in a broad field such as biology or zoology show that the trainer you choose at least has a background in anatomy and physiology. A more specific degree in an area such as exercise science, exercise physiology, or kinesiology are even stronger indicators that this trainer knows their stuff when it comes to fitness.

Is Your Personal Trainer Certified with a Trusted Organization?

Is your trainer certified to provide personal training? More importantly, who issued the certification? In an unregulated industry, “certified” does not indicate expertise on its own so it’s important to find a personal trainer that carries a reputable certification.

Three of the most respected certifications in the industry are offered by:

Other nationally recognized certifying agencies that you are likely to see are:

Does Your Trainer Carry Liability Insurance?

Liability insurance not only protects against personal injury loss, but is a good indication that this trainer takes the fitness profession seriously. Here is a trade secret: Liability insurance is not expensive, so if the trainer you are considering does not have a policy, it’s best to find a different personal trainer.

Is Your Trainer CPR Certified?

Your trainer must be prepared for emergency situations. The training offered from CPR certification courses keeps personal trainers updated on life-saving measures that can be taken should the worst occur. Current CPR certification is a must-have for any professional that you trust your health to.

Does Your Trainer Have Relevant Experience?

How much experience does your trainer have working with clients that have similar needs as yours? Finding a personal trainer with this experience can be invaluable, but it might not be a deal-breaker. A lack of experience for your specific needs can be overcome by the willingness to put in the time to do some research to close the gap.

Is Your Trainer Willing to Admit When They Don’t Know?

Will your trainer take the time to research your questions? This may be one of the most underrated traits of a personal trainer, as misinformation and assumptions can lead to injury. One of the best (but seemingly hardest) things a trainer can do is simply tell you, “I don’t know, but by the next time I see you I will have the answer.”

Do You Like Your Personal Trainer?

When choosing a trainer, this seemingly obvious factor is often overlooked or minimized. When you met with your prospective personal trainer, did you feel comfortable? You will be spending a lot of time with this person in the weeks and months to follow. If you feel uncomfortable at all in his or her company, it’s best to find another trainer.
