Tabata for the Holiday Season!

For most of us the holiday season means busy schedules, parties, and over eating.  How can we possibly keep up our fitness during this time of year?  The answer is Tabata training.  Tabata training involves multiple sets of short intervals of high intensity exercises with timed recovery between sets. The protocol can vary, but usually involves 8 sets of full body movements for 20 seconds of max effort followed by 10 seconds of rest. Do this for 4 minutes straight and you will torch some serious calories.  The following are a few examples of full body exercises to really get your heart rate going.

Body Weight Squats

Standing Lunge

Push-ups

High Knees

Mountain Climbers

Thrusters

Ball Slams

Burpees

Remember, 20s of all out intensity, then rest for 10s.  Move from one exercise to the next for 4 total minutes.  Repeat as many times as your limited schedule allows!
